“Steve: A Docu-Musical” is a solo show by musician and theater artist Colin Summers. In it, Summers chronicles his years long relationship with Steve, an eccentric man who contacts Colin to make songs out of Steve's lyrics.
By putting selections of Steve’s songs in the context of hundreds of email exchanges and first person story-telling, the show is able to paint a vivid picture of a fascinating character and explore the unique relationship between Steve and Colin. Steve is, at times, difficult, brilliant or absurd and often times all three at once. Reality begins to unhinge slightly as both the storyteller and his subject start to share a mutual obsession with each other, and start digging the depths of the internet for more information.
The show is 60 minutes long and features Summers playing 10 original songs by Steve on guitar and piano.
“Steve: A Docu-Musical” was premiered as a part of ANT FEST 2013 presented by and performed at ARS Nova in New York City. "Steve" will be produced by The New York Neo-Futurists August 6th-22nd 2015 at the 4th St. Theater.
